José Enrique Rodó - Ariel
Rodo stated that
American admire the United Stated because they can and they do. But he also
says that they can’t do it to an extent because then it will allow United
states to appear higher than Latin America, since one nation is copying them. Like we stated in class on Wednesday, using
the culture or politics or ways of life from America wouldn’t be a positive
thing for Latino America. Rodo states that he isn’t for United States because
of how good of an example it shows for the other nations around the world. If
he were to take this in consideration It wouldn’t be admirable because it would
show the copying and not the naturalness that it takes to make your own laws or
government. The main thing he fears is that the Latin American countries that
are looking at the United States for reference will try to institutionalize the
same thing that America is doing.
For me I believe Rodo
makes an understanding point about imitation from America. I believe that every
country should have their own laws, own politic structure especially culture that
describes that country or the people well. If we have a nation full of America
ways especially the way America is in law its way different than those Latino
countries. I know that countries do look at others for advice if they need
structure but everyone shouldn’t look at just America. I personally wish we
have the legal system of some Latin American countries, because here we go by
the book, over there they go by the truth and find out the truth as well. I
believe that it’s very important to do your own thing, but use others for reflection.
